Payment Gateway + Booking Issues

Past month we had several customers who used our booking-tool for an appointment. Like everybody they:
- Followed the steps in the form.
- Went to the payment gateway


Clients did not get an email, the appointment also didn't appear in the calendar, but they DID pay for it.

What can we do to prevent this?
