Open Lab Flexible Booking

I have another booking scenario I am not sure how to do and would like some advice.

Client has an Open Lab time at an Art Studio where students can book time to come in and do their own thing.

TIme is M-F 10:00am to 4:00pm

There can only be six students max in the lab at one time.

Students can set their own start time withen the Open Lab time frame

Students can book in hourly blocks (1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, etc)

How do I set this up and can the system recognize when a block of time is not available because of capacity and recommend and different time block?

I am handling it by using the Special Days plugin with the Custom Duration.

This allows someone to select a regular block of time and then add additional time.
